Joan Titus
I studied and worked in oils when I was in my early 20’s and moved to Ann Arbor, Michigan around 1962 where I took a class in ceramics at the Ann Arbor Potters Guild. Once I touched clay I was hooked and have done ceramics ever since.
I also studied ceramics at the Chicago Art institute, Marin College and worked in many studios in San Francisco, Lyons, Co. and finally arrived in Maryland where I do work at Anne Arundel Community College. I also studied sculpture there.
When I lived in Kansas City I was juried in every year for the Kansas City Street Fair and many of the art galleries carried my sculptures.
I do a series of what I call fantasy sculptures and the Garden Goddess are among them. These are figures which I put in herb gardens, in the perennial garden, flower boxes, etc. They also can stand alone as just sculpture pieces.
