Theresa Schram

I grew up in Southern Maryland on the Chesapeake Bay and later moved to the Eastern Shore. I am one of six children, whom I am still very close to. My mother’s family is very artistic and my parents encouraged my interest in art at an early age. I currently live in Easton, Maryland with my husband, Brian. I have been painting for over 15 years and am constantly experimenting with techniques, processes and compositions.

I get most of my subject matter from nature. From there I either simplify or exaggerate the forms with vivid color and an interest in design. I am very drawn to how my subject will fit onto the canvas spatially, either flowing off and onto another, as in the triptychs, or staying large and static in the center. At times I like to explore atmospheric effects of paint through various landscapes and simplifying forms with abstraction.

I graduated from Salisbury University with a degree in Art and currently teach K-8th grade art at Kent School, in Chestertown, Maryland. I am a member of the Friday Morning Artist group of Easton, The Academy Art Museum, Talbot County Visual Art Center and the Rehoboth Art League. My work can be seen at the Kerns Collection in Chestertown, Maryland, Hype in St. Michaels, Maryland, The Artisans’ Loft in Pultneyville, New York, and various venues throughout Easton, Maryland. I have completed numerous murals for children’s rooms and upon request, have done other decorative painting.
